The Tyne entrance is very wide in that photo compaired with today.
There are 2 cranes on that Pier doing the extension I suppose
The lighthouse on the Pier may have been on the old pier which was damage by a storm.
If I remember correctly the old Pier had a bit of a curve to it and was to the seaward side of the new straight one.
I don’t have my Admiralty charts of the Tyne entrance now which did show some remains.
Again if I remember right, there was an old shipwreck about where they are working on the seaward side of the South Pier not far from where the crane is.
Dived about 5 x on the 2 wrecks just off Frankie Cafe until a scrapper came and removed a lot of their remains
We often picked up 0.303 and 20mm ammo.
Remember the propellers off the Liner Oslofjod , the other was the Eugen Chandries spelling a bit off.
There are films on U tube of dives on them.
