So around £10,000 spent in Hebburn, and looking back I have lived through nothing like it, those that remember the war lived through much greater hardship of course. So perhaps it is fair enough that landmarks should be erected for something that affected everyone to varying degrees, and probably much cheaper than the tombstone campaign, telling us we are in Hebburn, Jarrow, Primrose, Luke’s Lane etc.
