Sheila that is the point whenever problems in the NHS are mentioned it is always said it is because we have an ageing population, I might add a population who have worked and contributed towards the NHS, it is never mentioned that we have a never ending supply of immigrants who arrive on our shores who are immediately able to access our NHS. Treatment via the the NHS is also, in my opinion, a post code lottery, on Monday my cousin’s wife suddenly had floaters in one of her eyes, quite a frightening thing, my cousin called Sunderland Eye hospital and was immediately given an appointment for his wife for 5pm on Monday afternoon, they arrived, no waiting seen immediately.
The NHS doesn’t need more money flung at it, it needs proper management a restructuring needs to be implemented, more thought to the ‘extra’ people they are treating and don’t forget how treatments of various problems have advanced over the years. Doctors, nurses, porters or whoever do work hard, I could not do their jobs, it must be irritating for them to see Management paid better than the medical staff hence a complete overhaul of where the money that is put into the NHS is spent, then maybe there will be money to hire more medical staff etc and pay them a reasonable rate of pay.
