My view is that some of the teachers protest too much about daily work and conveniently forget their 12 weeks off or the mysterious "inset" days tagged on to those holidays. They also forget that their Pension Scheme is secure and among the best available. Funny that whenever the subject is raised my good pal whose daughter is a teacher always rises with the case for the defence
I usual tell him that many men and women take work home or work long hours far beyond the contractual.
I certainly did. 7 to 7 was not unusual with many times longer. And I only got 6 weeks holiday (and many years didn't fit all that in).
And demeaning themselves by blowing whistles and waving union flags on picket lines is hardly a good example to the children to whom they are supposed to set an example.
I guess some would disagree and think that Mr Grumpy here is out of order.
