Most of us look back with rose tinted specs to our youth. You know when your first pint in 1960 was 1/1d (6p..I paid £3.95 last night) and when your first house in 68 was £3500 and many more examples.
Believe me I struggled to pay those prices so I had to "cut my cloth" and turn to my Dad for help.
But despite the obvious rises I think that most people in the UK are better off overall.
I concede that climbing onto the home ownership ladder is very very difficult for many young folk and many also find day to day living difficult. I did in my married life.
But I wonder if there was less spent on junk food and takeaways and delivery systems. Taxis as a norm. If cooking with proper ingredients became the normal again! If constant upgrade of smartphones wasn't a need. If tattoos and face jewellery were avoided. No smoking and vaping......would that help to some extent?
