in your post you mentioned Bede Buildings also a gentleman by the name of Alan Durrant my older brother went to the Quay Board school and a Alan Durrant was in class both of them went on to Clegwell during the end of the war 1945 ish.my brother is still with us and will be celebrating his 86 birthday this year.
Going back to Bede buildings a lad called Brian macBeth who lived a few doors away from the Durrant and was in my class at the Quay Board 1948 was killed out side his house by a workmans bus taking workers to Palmers the lad was on his way to school across the other side of Wagon Way.
It might be that the name Alan Durrant is a coincidence .
