I can understand that totally Anne. A friend said they had visited Hebburn recently and it was so different, lots of new houses. Of course it will have changed and so have we. After 45 years in my present house, I don’t think I have the energy for move now. Of course leaving the North East in 1970, that was for Somerset. It was the county we planned to go back to, but left it too late.
I mentioned in earlier posts of a lovely Scottish neighbour ex RAF, who bought a new car Golf car at the age of 90. He stopped driving at 95 and lived in his home until he lost his sight and had to go into care. His daughter has just let us know , he sadly died this week at the age of 99 1/2. He left the top of a Scotland at the age of 15 with his little cardboard suitcase. His dad shook his hand and said, all the best and put him on the train to England. Lots of tales as an engineer on different RAF planes. Lovely man. RIP Bill Andrews.
