I normally carry a Metro Popcard when I travel to Newcastle, however I forgot it last night and had to buy a return ticket. I was shocked to find it was £5.20, all I got from my younger friends was good hearted abuse about when I was a lad it cost tuppence etc, but I thought in London you could go a long way for that price plus it’s free for over sixties. That price is no encouragement to leave the car at home. Can anyone remember how much the bus fares in the sixties/seventies were, not just to Newcastle but around Hebburn and jarrow, just for nostalgic information 😊
