Thanks Liz - another mystery solved. I never actually shopped at Fenwicks in South Shields as I worked in Newcastle for many years and shopped at their Northumberland Street branch. Continued to do that until we moved South in 1988. I still miss them. Can only think I have been told, perhaps by my sister in law who worked in Fenwicks, that there was a branch in South Shields. Have just googled and that said they were situated in Simonside. Can't bring that to mind at all.
