Re: Slim Gillard for George
Hellzapoppin was also a successful stage show, the dancers came from the show and performed as Whitey's Lindyhoppers. I saw Slim Gaillard in the early 1980s at the then University Theatre. He moved to the UK permanently in 1983 a gifted man who spoke a number of languages, he also did a performance that was broadcast on US services network on Christmas day 1945 that goes down in history for the notoriety introduced by Bob Hope they sang a song called Chicken Rhythm but the clucking in the song was actually a swear word, the audience in the club obviously realised quite early and are in hysterics. It was broadcast unedited.
