This car a very high performance model.
It took you through removal of the engine etc. and replacement of top strut mount and other items.
The actual engine was not damaged but everything forward of the alternator pulley was plus air intakes to top of engine.
The amount of work to just dismantle and remove engine huge as a 4.4 V8. All air bags blown.
The video was about 3 hours long, OK not for most people to watch but I enjoyed it just from an interest point of view.
Just watching the way the body front end had been built and then repaired WOW.
Once they had got to engine start up the amount of fault code that came up and the kit required to sort them!
Take a replacement head light O/S worked straight away but N/S as second hand it’s code to be checked and updated through BMW.
A lot of parts are “coded” originally at factory so if installed in a different car they will not work until passed through BMW.
I knew that it’s almost impossible for us oldies to contemplate doing this type of work but the cars now have gone way beyond what we could ever contemplate.
Of course with the crash all the AIR bags blew and the replacement of those !
The video was 3 hours long but the presenter is excellent, Matt Armstrong. I never felt like stopping watching.
I don’t think that I will attempt anything like that or be capable of even the smallest amount of the work.
