It's everywhere Sheila, and in a lot of cases tge quality of these properties leave a lot to be desired. My sons friend has bought a new property the back garden is a quagmire, it's a paddy field , after a lot of badgering they've dug the garden up. It's literally all building refuse after going 6inches down, they've had to put in drainage and a few tons of gravel and soil, but as you say, there's no amenities, nearest shop in a car ride away, no school, doctors etc, and there's more to be built. The land may be alright as arable land it doesn't mean its good to build on.
