Re: Newcastle Central Station Header Photo 'Then & Now'
Interesting James. I got stopped using my camera in the station by security. I went to the office and they didn't believe that I only wanted to photograph the roof girders. Then I was told not to use a tripod in case someone tripped over it and not to use a flash as it could blind someone! Then I was asked why the roof girders? I explained that they were the world's first curved girders made by Hawkes & Crayshay of Gateshead. I felt like they hadn't a clue so I left and took the photos when a train blocked their view. Security is all well and good but an ordeal isn't. Never again James!
