Of course she will blame the last Government, she is bound to.
While I have no doubt that our finances are not good but that are due to various factors, firstly the problems that the last Labour Government left then COVID etc.
However the U.K. was recovering and there was or is a lot of £ going into the coffers.
From our own experience back in 1980 I know how easy it is to cook the books, the solicitor dealing with our house sale claimed that we owed about £750 to them.
I had already done all the sums in my head and knew that they owed Me £750.
When their bill came in we were in the middle of moving into our new house 2nd day. I jumped into the car and went into work. The boss ask What are you doing in Allan?
Gave him a brier outline and I figure it out if you will check it for me.
I ran the numbers in the way that we always worked and then took them to my boss Brian.
He went over the figures and said The Bxxxxxds” your dead right.
As I had written everything down proper like I posted it back to the Solicitors from work.
Two days later a check for £750 arrived but no proper apology.
The way the bill had been written made it difficult to follow and the use of the words Due to you or due from you, replacing - or +.
I just made up two columns of money going out and another coming in. Their bill just one column + and - mixed with the to and from used Wrongly.
I still have the documents filed away.
It could be called creative accounting or cooking the books. If it had worked they would have profited by £1,500.
Unlucky for them the picked of someone money savvy.
From 1976 up to 1992 I did a LOT of creative accounting for our directors. Basically hiding the true state of our internal accounts.
Sort of make one contact the loss leader.
I have no doubt in my mind that the various Government departments will be massaging the books to satisfy the Chancellor. They have to keep their jobs don’t they.
After all us the electorate can never question their figures or numbers.
One big factor is the asylum seekers cost, that in its self is enough to throw a spanner in the works
So when you read what the Chancellor says tomorrow remember its to fit a conversation!
Ok it’s me saying it but the press are saying similar things.
