Brian, you should keep some of the spay on antiseptic at the allotment, any bites my husband gets, apart from washing the bite, he sprays on the antiseptic. As mentioned previously shorts are a no go in the garden if you are actually doing work, even when my husband uses the ride on mower he always wears long trousers and has his arms covered.
