This notice was displayed in shops advising registered customers of their food ration entitlement during WW2. Although it looks severe, it did vary from time to time. The article from which I took this photo states we were more healthy because of the imposed diet. I was around in the days of this rationing and do not recall such outlets as "Food Banks." Love the idea of one onion every third week and one egg every two. Fish and Chips were never rationed nor was bread. Cigarettes were only rationed by the nature of supply and demand. (There were plenty of Pasha about I remember) The one onion every third week brings tears to my eyes.
