I lived on Lyon St from being a baby in 1944 and in Oct 1950 when just 6 years old I watched the firemen fighting the fire 50 or so yards away. It was on a Friday night and the fire destroyed the Theatre thatb had started life in 1897. Stan Laurel's dad Arthur Jefferson managed the Theatre in earlier times. Stan was half of the famous 'Laurel & Hardy' American films we watched at the 'Pictures'.
