Copying old photos. Scanning problems

I tried yesterday to scan some old photos into my computer using the scanner of my printer.

It did some but they end up as Google photos not Tiff , PNG etc.

I dug out my older scanner but it would not work and I am assuming that the software of the two is clashing as both Epson.

I will try using the scanner with an older PC that does not have the printer software on it.

I may have to resort to taking a photo of the photos with iPad or my camera.

I will try and if need be go to a photographer.

There are 4 or 5 photos that I need copies of as they have an old diving buddy on them taken in 1976 which his family will not have seen and it’s his funeral in 10 days I took the photos back then.
