I assume that is Thubron timber beyond the school, it was effectively the end of Ropery Lane. There must have been more railway tracks on the branch line then, following the curve of what was Maple Street. Nice to see the old school, there isn't much else in the photo that remains on this side of the main railway line. There were two short roads leading to the school boundary, Rowhope St as already mentioned and Sharpendon St.
