Had a visit to Dobbies at Ponteland yesterday to get some seed potatoes to container grow for Christmas and while there had a visit to death row or as we call it the not so green mile. We ended up with some raspberry bushes for only 79p instead of £7.99, and a selection of herbs at £1 instead of £5.99. The only disappointment was the cheese scone in the cafe, very bland. Took them to the allotment, repotted and planted along with a good watering and the difference overnight is remarkable. We spent £12 on what would normally cost £80, big savings and a happy camper. Jam making this afternoon, two batches, rhubarb and blackberry and blackberry and lavender. I've also frozen a couple of kilo of blackberries to make Creme de Mur in the next month or so for Christmas pressies so planning ahead.
