I am 80 John and far from being an athlete but an 8 minute walk doesn't cause me problem. I do appreciate that there are some elderly and disabled who need help and transport. Families used to help. That seems "yesterday"! But as you say there will be few living down there without a car and therefore a bus will probably not be financially viable. And a key will be whether the provision of a diversion to the present bus route is a condition of the Planning Permission via what is called a Section 106 agreement.
