My friend and her husband with a group, visited the new nuclear power station, being built near Bridgwater in Somerset. She said the site is amazing. They were allowed to go up to the viewing platform, which gives a view of the whole site and also miles out to sea. There is well over 100 cranes including the biggest crane in the world called CARL. Beautiful accommodation built for the workers and a restaurant sits over 100 people and top class cuisine. All the cement is made on site. Also Doctors, nurses, ambulances and fire engines. She said it’s well worth a visit. Totally different from when my husband worked on Hinckley B. Everything for the site was transported through Cannington Village, where we lived. Now a bypass has been built to take all the traffic. It must be costing billions. lots of workers from other countries. I’m not sure if there is much local work, but all very interesting.
