Been retired many years now John. Sadly watched the demise of Reyrolle and other heavy engineering companies in the area, now all our power stations etc. are built and run by foreign companies. Sadly the younger generations now living in houses built on the sites of all those businesses will never know what Hebburn and the surrounding area was like when industry was king.
