Stan I worked on the control panels as an apprentice electrical fitter ( the wiring on these panels was a work of art) also on LMT gear SA gear OYT and finished in the high voltage shop on 400 kv switchgear. I then went on site, as last year apprentices at the time were not guaranteed a permanent job when they came out of their time. When I returned to Hebburn I went into the relays department ending up in the model shop until I was made redundant after 19 years and transferred to Parsons Automation on the Team Valley Gateshead (thankfully my service years continued) ending up in the development lab working on prototype traction equipment until Rolls Royce the then owners decided to close that side of the business as it was deemed non core business and then eventually closing the factory altogether. Another nail in the coffin for North East engineering.
