Can anyone remember the stables? I lived in the last house and still recall most of the people there. a Mr. Fielding from Hall Rd kept his car and caravan there but one Sunday the whole lot went up in flames. Tony Fissaro the Ice-cream man kept his horse there too and Brian Mc Dougal and I would go to the cemetery on the cart to get the grass for his horse. Brian Gallagher kept pigs there and other stables were used by Ben Towell, Mr. Peary who lived in the quarry houses. Later came Barnes Fish merchant. Wards coal merchants at the back of the pot and the familiar sound of Norman Smith who made logs and chopped bundles of sticks! The noise of his circular saw was part of life up there. Bob Hudson on Station Rd used to sell the sell bundles of sticks and logs for 3d each! He also lived in Hall Rd. Greater days and will always be remembered!
