I think you might be right Brian. Many years ago I was asked by two builders from London, directions to an Avenue. As soon as I stared speaking he laughed and said I sounded just like his Mum when she had visited her relatives on Tyneside. He said she has lived in London 55 years and when she came home after visiting Tyneside they couldn’t understand her. I asked if they could understand me, yes they said I sound like a posh Geordie. I was mortified 😀 not true at all.
