Re: Robson Green
I left Hebburn after coming out of my time in 1961 l emigrated Australia where I lived in the 1960s l found it hard at first working with the Aussies my Hebburn Geordie accent was hard to understand so one of my jobs being a sales man had to change in order to get across my message what helped quite a lot was the Aussie accent has simpler pronouceations like Park ,Dark after awhile it worked l can spot an Aussie after hearing a few words.l came back to the uk in the 70s where l am now to this day some 50 years on the Yorkshire direlect has a lot of Geordie pronouceations l believe after all these years l still have my soft Hebburn Geordie accent as John Shearer put and proud of it.l remember about 3or 4 years ago l was on a bus from Newcastle Jarrowl had been to see the Match and sat next to a couple we got talking the fella was some one that lived downParliment st in the Quay we he asked where l was stopping l said at my brothers in JARROW He repleid it's alright you know to say JARRA l felt a bit embarrassed. I think Robson Green has done Tyneside proud l always say it's not what folk say or how they say it's what they DO that counts
