Another Tory project comes back to bite us in the bum.
I well remember the propaganda when water and other
amenities were up for sale and the might of the press was
geared up to sell us ‘the dream’ . Like all the privatisations it was said it would cut costs, be more efficient , more customer friendly etc. So now we have the absurdity of the French government , German companies and global insurance companies being in control of our failing public amenities. Incidentally , it was also touted that privatisation would introduce competition into the marketplace. Right- so now I’m dissatisfied with Thames water and I ask Welsh Water to supply me? No prizes for guessing the outcome. As a former Tory prime minister said these sales was akin to selling off the family silver.
