I remember it very well as football pitch back in the 1950s as kids we would play on the small pitch next to the railway lines,where may have games when some of the bigger lads would join in and kick the ball over the railings on to the electrified lines,it was always retrieved.The CIU clubs played on Sunday morning l remember the BUFFs club having a good team,there was 2 brothers Called Rutherford,Ernie was a big goal scorer,they lived down the Quay l think on Paliment st,l believe a funfair was held on the pitch there.on a Sunday morning the club games got up to 100 crowd after the game they would go over the wooden bridge down to there club get changed and have cheese pickled .onions ,etc. Happy days
