The 'Theatre' at one time was ran by Arthur Jefferson the father of the famous Stan Laurel of 'Laurel & Hardy' fame.
look at the people in the streets looking up at the little aircraft flying low over the town.
Not many years later it was German bombers flying over.
I remember going to the Theatre matinees, but I was only 5 or 6 so cant remember what it looked like inside. I lived yards away to the right on Lyon St and watched it when it was on fire in Oct 1950. After it burned down us kids started going to the Gem matinees on Saturday afternoons.
