After checking the fuse box and everything was OK I checked outside, we were the only ones affected. I rang Northern Powergrid who went through a checklist, we then got a further call from the smart meter dept who took us through some other stuff and then despatched an engineer who came out to ascertain whether the fault was inside or outside and if we were a lone feed or a spur, he then sent for a team as it was outside.
They turned up about midnight and eventually worked out it was under the block paving so up it came and they managed to restore the electricity about 3.30.am then it was refilling and making safe so by the time they left and I got to bed it was around 4.30am. The team leader said the junctions can last for 40 years or 4 years ours was around 30 years from his estimate. The whole lot from the first call onwards was very efficient and I have nothing but praise for them.
