The bit about - Breath of fresh air was because Peter has put stuff on the board that is brand new and took time to put in an effort explaining his photos etc. Not many of us can do that!
The lacking bit is because we all have focused on the General Election and its aftermath which seemed to shoved good stuff off the board.
Of recent months some great stuff from Stan and others plus the drone shots from Ian T.
When the thread about the Quayside came up I was disappointed that no one had thought to mention that a lot of that area was very badly damaged by the huge explosion on the Gateshead Riverside.
There was a long discussion about that some years ago.
We all need to feed info. Onto the board to help Norman.
We have over the years gathered a lot of info about our area and Tyneside which new visitors to the board are unaware of.
We all have stories about this and that and they could be of interest to others.
Of recent threads the one that bothers me the most is the capping of the Old Pit shafts. But by todays standards were they a bodge job?
From what has been posted on the board over the years all the old mine working seem to be rather deep maybe 800 - 1,000 foot down but it’s very extensive talking in the Quay area but how far did they mine. Up to say St. John’s, into Jarrow ?
