A fantastic photo Norman. Various things to look at, as has been said the ladies clothing, note the I assume old lady with a white shawl.

I’ve no idea but does the ladies in lighter clothes mean that they are better off.

One thing that strikes me is the spacing of the Gas street lamps, very close together I assume as they did not give off much light.

Do go onto Google street view and just look at the difference between then and now. What a decline!

One big difference is the amount of stock each store must have held back then.
