Newcastle's clean air zone does not affect private cars and motorcycles. There are no charges to enter the city. However, why would you want to enter the city if you are going to Byker. Cross the Tyne Bridge but don't turn left into the City. Keep going and take the first Right towards Heaton, Sheilds Road & Byker. Huge Bike shop at top of the main shopping area. er .. (Shopping centre bit like Gateshead High Street) If you go by bike, don't leave it outside the shop or you may not need your new cycle shoes when you come out. You may have to throw them away and get the bus home, or go back and buy a new bike and start again.
