Brian, Malcolm is right. The Jews wanted to go back to the land that was once called Isreal and where history tells us once Jewish land. They were offered land in Africa. I wonder what would have happened had they agreed. The British tried to stop the Jews from going to Palestine after WW2, but gave up, as they were all refugees from the horrors of the Nazis. British soldiers died in Palestine trying to stop them. To much history for me to write here, but I will say, after their treatment in WW2 they swore they would never let it happen again. They took barren waste land and turned it into a country where Jews would always be welcome. Who would think Jews would not feel safe in the UK, but sadly it’s now true. Sadly history is often soon forgotten .
