I can recall a Mrs Veitch visiting St Bede's Harold Street school around 1959. She gave us a talk on drama. She was the widow of Colin Veitch, the Newcastle United and England footballer. He and his wife were very much into the Arts and co-founded the Peoples' Theatre in Newcastle. I admit we weren't all that interested in her talk, however when she passed around her husband's FA Cup winner's medal we were very impressed.
