Goodness knows the state of the river due to that!
We have a beck which is about 1-2 yards wide and after heavy rain it rises about 2 feet.
Thank goodness the side has a lot of rock in it so not a lot of erosion, but the silt that can be seen at times a lot.
The beck drains an area of about 4 square miles by the time it gets to us, It may drain more land but there are underground springs about.
Taking the vast area the Tyne drains there must be a huge amount is silt entering the river.
Old maps seem to indicate that the river used to have a lot of sand banks, some at Hebburn.
Sounds like a decision come back to bite them in the BUT.
