After seeing those weary, desperate Marchers, Sir John Jarvis a wealthy Tory MP for Surrey felt so sad for them he wanted to help & he did.
He purchased redundant Ocean Liners to be scrapped in a Jarrow shipyard.He also created Jarrow Metal Industries in Bedewell Works, Tube Works Etc.
