Why it was covered in that white “ sheeting” type stuff, who knows or is it just distortion of camera lens. I just wonder if it had got so dirty by 1914-15 they decided t clean it up but WW1 got in the way?
Until you look at the building as it is today, the photo sort of explains itself ie the roof structure.
It must have cost a packet to build back in the day.
The company that I worked for installed fancy hand railing/ balustrades to staircases etc.
With theses old photos it’s all in the detail, hidden gems dotted about if you open your eyes.
