Also left behind was the deep and dangerous reservoir that we called the 'Copperworks Pond'.
It was man made with steep sloping sides so you couldnt 'plodge' or you would slide into the deep water. I remember the water had a greenish tinge to it and you couldnt see how deep it was.
I remember word going round one Saturday that a lad about my age had drowned in it about 1950ish. The lad was called Colqhoun and he lived near the Quay School. I remember some of his siblings David, Sheila & Arthur.
