An old postcard photo showing the tug Joffre and Port Gisborne on the Tyne. Joffre was built by the Ardrossan Dry-Dock and Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. in 1915 and was broken up in 1966. Port Gisborne was built by Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson at Wallsend in 1927. She was sunk by U-48 on the 11th October 1940 when part of convoy HX-77 some 300 miles west of Rockall with the loss of 26 crew.
