Re: Today at ASDA
Cost of weekly grocery shopping is going through the roof in Canada. President Trump says , NONE POLITICAL,he will be imposing a twenty five percent tariff on Canadian imports. Probably if a lot younger one could, like an aquaintence of mine, live like a pioneer. He has a cabin in Newfoundland, heated by a wood from his wood lotstove which also serves as cooking stove. Has a drilled well for water, solar panels for electricity oil lamps for backup. Deer or Moose meat which he shares with a neighbour, all kinds of fresh fish which he catches year round. Grows an assortment of vegatibles. Does shop very frugaly for other necessities.requires petrol for his snowmobile and pickup truck.and backup generator.Hospital and doctor about an hour away. Has two small pensions as income. He is 65 years of age, married and they seem to be happy in their own world. Taxes minium not an issue. Of course there is Manuel work involved, the firewood has to be cut, the meat hunted and the fish though plentiful has to be caught. Nothing comes gift wrapped except when using the outhouse. Snow up to the roof line in the long winter months. Oh to be younger again.
