In the early 60 there arrived special sort of propelling pencils in 0.5, 0.7 & 0.9 mm leads. Then ink versions arrived which changed things again.
A normal pencil sharpener no good you don’t get the correct point for a draughtsman. It was difficult to get a pencil sharpener that didn’t break the point. We even had to sharpen the blade out of the sharpener it ended up that a knife was quicker.
There were so many changes in the 60’s and 70’s with draughting instruments, inks and types of paper. Then how you made copies of drawings, material sheets etc.
There were huge changed to erasers around them to suit what pencils, pens or even inks used never mind the type of paper etc. you drew on.
I changed my job in 1966 and different tools required.
All that now gone in the main with the use of CAD. What has happened in the last 20:years? I know not!
Like all jobs specialist tools required but one tool stood the test of time a pen knife as useful now as back then.
