The reason I posted that piece of History was because I had just delivered one of my Good old Pelaw, Bill Quay etc books to a lady in Bill Quay last night & as we talked she mentioned she had the surname Minto in her family. So I told her a bit about that story. I also said Luke Minto was a well known builder in Hebburn in the 1800s & there was a street nicknamed 'Minto St' ( We think because he probably built most of the street). I found that out because my Great Granda was recorded as being born in Minto St 1872.
