There are awards for different genres of music and arts a lot of which are predominantly white. The CMA's, various heavy metal awards for music, gay arts awards, etc.

If the judging panels are balanced and non prejudicial we wouldn't need the different awards, but when certain genres aren't represented, (the grammys spring to mind dropping a lot of the Latin awards) it then perpetuates these awards. There's some music I would rather cut my ears off than listen too but it's personal preference and let's be honest we aren't going to be listening to the vast amount of this music or heard of any of the
artists
