I got to know Ron and found he started his working life in the shipyards. He was really interested in Local History and when he lived in Black Rd there was some stonework at the bottom of his garden that was part of Hebburn B Pit. In later life he worked at the 'Discovery Museum' in Newcastle & along with Ken Smith a Evening Chronicle journalist they wrote a book called 'Shipyards of the Tyne. RIP Ron.
