I saw Get Carter film on Sunday night maybe for the 5 or 6th time Michael Cain was just brilliant like he was in another one of his films ZULU .Get Carter for me was more poinent the fact it was filmed on Tyneside and little old Hebburn albeit a very small part but memorable showing the view from the gun battle
On the Wallsend ferry landing showing the river in all its glory and hay day looking over the other side of the river to wards Hebburn Leslie's to see the ships tied up and in the process of being built the sky line filled with cranes. Reaching into the sky and now a recent photo of the recent demolition of Hawthorn Leslie's showing a big space and nothing else may be or for sure a housing estate to be built SAD.
