St. Mary’s Squirrels

Horses gallop,rabbits hop
Snakes may slither with panache
Cats parade,except when hunting
Stalking,freezing,then a flash

Squirrels flaunting bushy tails
Appear to move with grace and light
Bounding free, then still and watchful
Marking time with eyes so bright

Burying food to serve through winter
Busy,busy,every day
Pausing on each dizzy climb
While returning to their drey
