Norman just sent me a picture via Tom Barker of Palmers Joiner Shop. What a hive of activity, when I clocked in for work on a Monday morning the smell of sawdust and fresh cut wood always made my day, what a wonderful experience serving my time there. It was never a job and served me well when I went to Canada. Strange thing about that I only intended to visit didn't know I was an immigrant until looking at the stamp in my passport, IMMIGRANT, didn't have the money for a passage back upon arrival, didn't know any one, looking for a place to bed down, no job, 35 dollars in my pocket., OH the innocence of youth. Having the strong Geordie instinct for survival has served me well through my life.
