In 92 while serving in the RN on a fishery protection vessel down in the deal basin , we got a call to escort a small boat back to the french side. There was a french coast guard vessel in the channel waiting to meet us. The men were african and had stole the vessel. They were returned to the coast to face prosecution . Imagine that happening now. They would be brought to the UK dover side to be housed in a nice hotel.
